[#WhatsYourMessage Day 11 – Massive Action Day 1 of 6]
Chapter 1 was about my own journey in finding my message. Perhaps you have started to discover your own message through my story. Let’s flesh it out even more.
This Chapter will be about your journey.
You are the Message
Your own life story will be the key to finding your message.
Every good, inspiring, and powerful message has a background story. A week before my first book The Fired Up Life was launched, I got interviewed on radio. The first thing the radio host asked me was, “So Kirby, what’s the story behind your book? What led you to write The Fired Up Life?” I was so glad I was asked that because sharing my own life’s experience is the easiest thing to do. It’s inside me and I just have to narrate it.
There is one key advantage when you tell your own story.
No one will contest your story. It’s what happened to you and you are simply sharing your ups and downs, your lessons, and your victories. Hardly will someone say, “No, that’s not true.” Unlike when you deal with the sciences and other fact-based subjects, someone may disprove your ideas.
Your own narrative will be your greatest proof. You are the main example of your message.
In my message, Living a Fired Up Life, comes naturally for me because how I act and speak shows signs of it. I’m usually enthusiastic about topics that’s in my zone of strength (Check out my other book, How to Live in Your Passion Zone).
“3 points, for the win!”
I love those buzzer beater shots in basketball. And usually it’s a three-point shot.
There will be 3 factors or “3 points” wherein you’ll be able to find your message and go for the win.
- Your pain point
- Your turning point.
- Your over overcoming point.
Your Pain Point
A great story starts with a great desire. You may have noticed, I started with that in Chapter 1.
What were your dreams, your ambitions, or your goals? While on your journey to reach them, you encounter a problem. This problem becomes your hindrance in moving forward. This is your pain point.
“Mess into a Message”
Reflect on your painful experiences, and the “mess” you were into. If you are writing a book on financial freedom and wellness, you may want to elaborate on the pain you were going through while you were in debt.
In my case, I told you my story of how I was at a point of being down and depressed in my entrepreneurial pursuit, trying to find direction in my life and looking for a source of motivation so I could push for my goals.
What “mess” were you in? Turn that mess into a message.
Your Turning Point
What experience did you have wherein that one single realization became your driving force of change?
In my case, it was my Baguio trip that gave me the epiphany about my mission and later brought me to my message.
Find your turning point.
