See the Connection of Your Passions

Your Passions Combined is Uniquely Who  You Are

One the struggles that I wrote in my story is that I had “too many passions.” That’s not a bad thing at all. The more we are knowledgable and adept to many things, the more helpful we can become and relate with more people. But here’s the thing, in my experience, my tendency was to jump from one passion to the other, and end up not finishing anything at all!

I would start a book on theology, and not finish. I would then start writing about Christian music songwriting, and midway I would shift. Until I decided that I would focus first on the topic of self-motivation, was I able to finally accomplish something.

What’s important is that you are able to arrange your passions, according to “hierarchy” or “priority.”

What passion is #1 for you?

There can be important factors to consider too. Like, you may be passionate about one thing, but your current need is to put food on the table.

Also, you may feel strong about one passion, but you have other passion where others would consider your genius. Try to observe which is most helpful to others.

So, among your passions, which do you think is your #1?

The Connection of Your Passions

What makes an individual unique and unrepeatable is the combination of his or her passions.

When I say choose a “priority passion,” it does not mean suppressing the other passions.

When I speak to an audience, and if they are familiar with one of my songs, I break the ice by telling them a story about that song — of how I came up with the idea and the inspiration. Then I connect it with the main point in my talk. So you see, instead of suppressing that part of me, I used it as a tool.

Even my passion for hydrponic farming can be combined with my passion for speaking. Hydroponics is the science of growing plants without using soil, of which nutrients are directly fed into the roots. Sometimes I would use metaphors on “roots” and “nutrients” to stress what we need in life — to be deeply rooted and to be full of spiritual nutrients so we can grow to our potential.

The other passions play big supporting roles to your main passion. This makes your message special and very interesting.
