How I Spread my Message through Speaking (and what I said to my audience)

Invitations to speak

When the book came out, I was surprised that almost immediately I got an invitation to speak to groups. Every week I had at least 1 or 2 engagements! Then, they would request if I could bring some copies to my talk.

Which part will I talk about?

My dilemma then was, among the different subjects in my book, which one will I talk about? I could remember preparing in a coffee shop . . . scanning my book. Then I realized something — I have to start with talking to them about the vision of living a fired up life!

In my book, I outlined there the 5 signs of a Fired Up Life. I thought, “That’s what I’m going to talk about!”

If there is one strength that I have, it’s to talk about possibilities, the future. I want to excite people of the potentiality of things, of how God can lead them to live a passionate and purposeful life.

Here’s the interesting part. My first talk was done in a venue inside a big mall, and it was being recorded and shown LIVE online. Good thing I only found out about it after giving the talk.

Selling the book in an event

Here’s the beautiful thing, the conversations after the talk. When I do my book selling, I get to talk about people’s hopes and dreams, about their struggles and aspirations, of how they needed to be self-motivated . . . to be fired up and live out the 5 signs of a Fired Up Life.

The selling is really a means to spread my message. The profit is good, but it’s really about people learning to invest in improving their lives. That’s why I’m not shy to sell my books, it’s good for my audience.

Sometimes (or most of the time), when people get stuff for free, they take it for granted. But I noticed, when people spend for it, they take time to study because they want to make the most out of the money that they spent. Well, that’s how I am as well. When I buy a book, especially the pricey ones, I really finish reading them and I study them well. But when I get some free ebook offers online, I barely read them.

An Invitation

Another thing, speaking about my book was really more of like inviting them to my offer. That this could be the book the one that will change the course of their lives, just as how the message in it changed mine.

Some people accepted the invitation, while some didn’t. Those who did were able relate with the vision that I shared with them. They saw themselves living a Fired Up life.

Start with the Vision

If you are going to spread your message, start with the vision. Paint to them a picture of what it’s like if they embraced your message.

Vision is exciting. You are proposing to them what could be and how following the path you are inviting them to, could be the solution to their problems.

So, what’s your vision for your message? Start pondering.
